The doctorate diploma
The doctorate is the highest national and international university degree. It allows access to the highest offices.
Collecting the certificate of success
The certificate of success can be downloaded from your personal space ADUM as soon as your file is finalized: heading " Administrative documents " - Tab " After defense ".
No certificate of success will be available until the final deposit of your thesis with the Documentation Department at the university library has been completed and validated.

Diploma edition
Doctoral diplomas are edited twice a year under the condition of receiving the originals defense documents and after the final submission of your thesis::
- On Mid-October for the thesis defended between January and August of the current year
- On Mid-February for the thesis defended between September and December of year N-1
Doctors are notified by email from their personal ADUM space of the availability of withdrawal according to the 2 waves indicated
The diploma is definitively edited and must be kept.
1. If you have lost your diploma:
A diploma is always edited in one copy. In case of loss, destruction (e.g.: flood, fire..) or theft, you can request a duplicate.
Only the institution that edited the original diploma is authorized to issue a duplicate.
All requests must be sent to the admissions office by mail or email using the form provided. The duplicate will be sent according to the same procedure as for sending a diploma.
2. If you have changed your civil status:
In case of a change of last-first name, gender, you must provide any document justifying this change for the issuance of a duplicate.
You also have the possibility of adding your common name to your birth name on the diploma via the dedicated form (justify this right of use by a copy or extract of the civil status certificate, photocopy of the family record book, ID...)

Doctoral Ceremony
The doctoral diploma may be given on the day of the annual graduation ceremony of the university to the doctors registered for the event and subject to the deposit made with the university library.
In person :
WITHOUT APPOINTMENT ON MONDAYS, TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS ONLY
Before coming, it is recommended that you contact the Admissions Office (inscriptiondoctorat@u-bordeaux.fr) to ENSURE that we will be present and that your diploma is available.

Your diploma will be given to you upon presentation of a valid ID.
The following are considered as identification: national identity card, passport, driver's license.
NB: The student card, transport card, social security card, etc. are not considered as proof of your identity
By another person :
If you are unable to present yourself, you may have your diploma collected by a third party.

Your diploma will be delivered upon presentation of:
- A completed and signed proxy (download a template)
- His/her valid identity card
- A photocopy of your valid ID
The following are considered as identification: national identity card, passport, driver's license.
NB: The student card, transport card, social security card, etc. are not considered as proof of your identity
By post :
By sending a request (download from the website ) to the admissions administrative in charge of your thesis defense.
In France or Europe: Provide a an A4 rigid envelope, for recorded delivery mail, stamped at "up to 50 grams", indicating your name and address.
Outside Europe : Provide an A4 rigid envelope, for recorded delivery mail, stamped at "up to 50 grams", indicating the address and contact of the French Embassy or Consulate closest to your place of residence.
Third-party authentication of the diploma
The Graduate Research School is able to authenticate the doctoral degrees awarded by the University of Bordeaux.
The request may come from an organization, a company or an institution. It MUST be accompanied by the written authorization of the person concerned and be sent to: inscriptiondoctorat@u-bordeaux.fr
