Before your arrival
International doctoral students must complete several administrative procedures before they arrive.
The university provides to doctoral students with a work contract (doctoral contract, CIFRE, ATER, etc.) and researchers, a dedicated assistance to the Welcome Center for International Researchers (Pôle RIPI-Direction des relations internationales) for all administrative procedures relating to immigration, labour law, social security, taxes, etc.
For other questions and audiences:
- Campus life offices for logistical and administrative matters: https://www.u-bordeaux.fr/Campus/Accueil-des-etudiants
- The residence permit unit for questions relating to the "student" residence permit: https://www.u-bordeaux.fr/International/Venir-a-Bordeaux/Etudiants-internationaux/Informations-pratiques/Carte-de-sejour-Etudiant
A doctoral student under contract, funding for his thesis, cannot remain under a student residence permit for 3 years. He or she must approach the BACI as soon as he or she arrives to modify his or her residence permit.
