Doctoral Graduation Ceremony: a third edition rich in emotions

The graduates of the 8 doctoral schools who defended their thesis in 2020 and 2021 were rewarded for the diversity and excellence of their research work on March 5, 2022, in the auditorium of the Pin Galant in Merignac.

For its 3rd edition, the Doctoral Graduation Ceremony of the University of Bordeaux was held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Pin Galant in Merignac. Relatives, friends, directors of doctoral schools... More than a thousand participants came to attend this symbolic moment. After recalling the institution's solidarity with the Ukrainian people, Roger Marthan, Director of the Graduate Research School, and Dean Lewis, President of the University, praised the work of the graduates and their contribution to scientific research today and tomorrow.

Doctors from the eight doctoral schools were called to the stage in turn to receive their diplomas. The ceremony was punctuated by testimonials and speeches. The first part of the ceremony dealt with the theme of promoting the doctorate, with Diane Potart, national finalist in the 2021 My Thesis in 180 seconds competition, and Lucile Laulin, winner of the 2021 L'Oréal-Unesco Prize for Women in Science. The elected doctoral students of the Graduate Research School and Laure Magnan, a doctor and representative of the AquiDoc association, also discussed the construction of an alumni network to provide a forum for exchange between doctors and doctoral students.
