Doctoral student status
Depending on his or her situation, the doctoral student has a status that gives him or her, in addition to student status, rights and obligations.
The different types of doctoral student status :
- scholarship doctoral student: they benefit from specific and punctual financial aid, e.g. scholarships from ministries, foreign governments, international programs (e.g. China Scholarship Council, etc.).
- the public-law employed doctoral student: they receive funding to complete their thesis on a full-time basis. The sources and duration of funding vary (public funds, private funds from the European Commission, etc.).
- the privately employed doctoral student: he or she has a salaried activity outside of his or her thesis and can carry it out on a part-time basis
