Funding programs for international mobility
Mobility, doctoral studies internationalization
Each year, the Graduate Research School opens a call for mobility grants for doctoral students wishing to submit an international mobility project supporting the internationalization of their doctoral studies.
This call supports outgoing international mobility projects from 3 to 9 months in a university abroad.
It is adressed to doctoral students enrolled in one of the doctoral schools of the University of Bordeaux, regardless of nationality
Since 2014, nearly 80 doctoral students have received a financial support for their mobility projects.

The Franco-American Commission has been administering this prestigious program between France and the United States for the past 70 years and has more than 20,000 awardees from both countries.
The Fulbright Commission and the University of Bordeaux have signed up an agreement for students enrolled in a doctoral program at the University of Bordeaux to pursue research for their doctoral studies in an American university.

Duration of the award
4 to 12 months, depending on the research project
$1,500 per month ($2,000 per month for non-funded doctoral students)
+ Travel grant 1,200€ + Gratuity of visa fees + Complementary Health insurance

Mitacs is a Canadian not-for-profit organization which supports partnerships between universities and the industrial sector, mainly through scholarship programs. These scholarships are awarded to students, doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers from the University of Bordeaux wishing to travel to or from Canada for a research residency either in research laboratories or a private company.
As part of the partnership between the University of Bordeaux and Mitacs, bilateral research mobility programs are co-financed by both organizations.
Globalink Research Award (GRA)
This program is for undergraduate students in their third year of study, as well as doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who are looking to participate in a short-term research laboratory exchange (3-6 months).
Type of mobility: Support for both incoming and outgoing mobility (to and from Canada), as part of an internship (for undergraduate and graduate students) or a research stay (for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers)
Program duration: 12-24 weeks (around 3-6 months)
Program location: research laboratories in either Canada or France
Scholarship amount: $CA 6,000 for the entire mobility period, regardless of its duration
Terms of payment: the scholarship is first paid by Mitacs to the partner university and then to the student

This program is for Master level students, doctoral students, or postdoctoral researchers who are either enrolled at the University of Bordeaux or a Canadian university, and who wish to participate in a research internship (4-6 months) in both a company and an academic laboratory in the partner country.
Type of mobility: support for both incoming and outgoing mobility, an internship at a company and a research stay at a partner university, as part of a joint research project
Eligible students: Master level students, doctoral students or postdoctoral researchers (any discipline)
Partnership: trilateral partnership (Canadian and French universities + company)
Program duration: 4-6 months, divided between Canada and France. Students must spend at least 25% of their time at their university and 25% of their time at a company in the partner country.
Program location: any university and company in Canada and Bordeaux
Scholarship value: $CA 15,000 for the entirety of the project, regardless of the duration
Scholarship coverage: research scholarship
Terms of payment: the scholarship is paid by Mitacs to the Canadian university and then managed by the Canadian supervisor
